Martyred sons of Kashmir can’t be forgotten— Tribute to commander Nazir Shah by Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, Jun 15: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has paid glowing tributes to Commander Nazir Ahmad Shah shaeed, for his patriotic struggle and sacrifice, as a valiant freedom fighter and Chief Commander of Jammu and Kashmir Jihad Force, on his 19th martyrdom anniversary.

It is here to recall that the martyred commander who had succeeded Jemal Afghani after latter’s shahadat in 1993, was slaughtered brutally in custody by the Special Police Task Force on 15th June, 1994 in Srinagar, and his bullet-riddled and mutilated body was found on a road-side in Bemina Srinagar. nazir ahmed shah shaheed,Kashmir leader,JKPFL Nazir Ahmad Shah was a political-crusader during 1970s and 1980s, who loudly protested against the Indira-Abdullah accord, in a public rally of Sheikh Abdullah in 1975 in Bandipora, questioning Sheikh’s authority to sign one more agreement of shame with India.

When India failed to honour the urges of the people and their peaceful struggle, and contrarily resorted to military tactics against the Kashmiris, Nazir Ahmad shah along with other dedicated political workers came forward to uphold the banner of armed struggle against the militarization of Kashmir by India.

When the Chief of then Jihad Force Jemal Afghani was martyred, he (Nazir Ahmad Shah) as second in command followed the martyrdom-Karwan of great freedom fighters. After him, the spying net-work of India employed more ruthless methods to eliminate honest and committed educated youth, and thus many more commanders of the Jihad Force JK were brutally killed across Kashmir. The people in Kashmir particularly his home town Kalusa-Bandipore are remembering the martyred leader by Qur’an Khawani and Fateh-Khawani today.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said, “Nazir Ahmad Shah and other martyrs of freedom will always live in the hearts of the Kashmiris and no power on earth can suppress the will of the people or deprive them of their right to self-determination in Kashmir.” He urged Indian parliamentarians and philanthropists to feel the pulse of the Kashmiris for freedom and, understand implications of their government’s intransigent military policy vis-à-vis Kashmir, in order to settle the long-drawn issue without further blood-shed on a permanent basis of peace, harmony and popular urge of the people in the region.” ‘State terrorism in any form or manifestation can never bring peace to Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of South Asia, he warned.
