Police Raids & Atrocities in Srinagar Condemned

Islamabad, May 19, 2023: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman J&K People's Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter, has strongly condemned police raids on the house of detained leader of the APHC and vice-chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah in Srinagar and other people in civil areas ahead of Group-20 meeting, scheduled for 22 May 2023.

In a statement issued here, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that India was pretending normality and peace in the Occupied region, which it never existed there. He said if it was peace, India should release thousands of political prisoners and leaders and revoke draconian laws from the besieged region and respect human rights and social and religious norms of the inhabitants.

He appealed to the G-20 countries to boycott the Srinagar meet of its group as long as India refused to grant the right of self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and respected basic human rights of the people.

Rehman said that the police raids and atrocities were a clear violation of human rights and international law. He said that the Indian government was trying to suppress the voice of the Kashmiri people who were demanding their right to self-determination.

He urged the international community to take notice of the situation in Kashmir and put pressure on India to respect the human rights of the Kashmiri people.

The raids and atrocities by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir have been condemned by human rights groups and the international community. The United Nations has called on India to end its human rights abuses in Kashmir.Police Raids & Atrocities in Srinagar Condemned
