Muhammad Farooq Rehmani condemns anti-Muslim violence in India and calls for UN intervention

Islamabad, April 17: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman of the J&K People's Freedom League and ex-Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJ&K, has stated that "Indian Muslims are being slaughtered like animals in their own homeland by the RSS gangs without any question by the world." Rehmani made these comments in a condemnation statement after the broad daylight and live TV murder of UP's four-time lawmaker Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad, who were being escorted for medical check-up hand-cuffed.

The assailant raised anti-Muslim slogans while the police failed to protect the two ex-lawmakers, claiming that the killers posed as journalists.

Rehmani warned that horrifying reports of anti-Muslim violence were coming daily from across India and Jammu and Kashmir. He further stated that on one hand, in the IIOJ&K, Kashmiris were targeted for demanding the right of self-determination, and demographic changes were made to change the Muslim majority character of the state. On the other hand, the fault of Indian Muslims was their belief in Islam.

Regarding the Pulwama attack of 2019, Rehmani stated that the revelations made by Satya Pal Malik, the former governor of the IIOJ&K, had vindicated Pakistan's stance and testified that the drama of Pulwama was a part of the terrorism bogey repeatedly used for enacting fake encounters against the youth of Kashmir.

Rehmani claimed that India was responsible for violating promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and international humanitarian law. It had also failed to protect the rights of Indian Muslims according to the Nehru-Liaqat Pact. Therefore, under the given conditions, Pakistan should take the untoward situation of Indian Muslims to relevant international forums, and the right of self-determination should be once again raised in the UN.

He demanded that, in view of the horrifying picture of India, RSS members and sympathizers should not be allowed to enter Kashmir under any pretext. Rehmani expressed fear that RSS gangs could begin large-scale killing sprees with the help of the BJP government.
